David Quentin Sheldon The Green River Preserve
I had the great pleasure and honor to be the
resident artist and Painting Coordinator at the
Green River Preserve ( located in Cedar
Mountain, North Carolina) this past summer. I
met some truly exceptional people, dedicated
to teaching young people appreciation and
respect for Nature.
Each morning, I would venture out, onto the
preserve, on a "painting safari", coming back
with my "painting of the day" for the campers.
It was quite a task to pull off in only a couple
of hours each morning, but I learned a lot
through the experience..
I also worked with campers on a series of
murals: A "Birds of Green River Preserve"
mural. An "Above Ground/Below Ground"
mural. A mural of Native American designs on
the boys' shower house. We even had time to
do some painting on the camp teepee!
All in all, a very rewarding experience. I've
posted a selection of some of my favorite
"paintings of the day". A big thanks to
everyone at GRP!
