David Sheldon Bio

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (BFA '85) and the
University of Maryland (MFA '90), David has always maintained a
broad array of interests and pursuits as an artist.
David has exhibited his paintings, both nationally and internationally.
His work is included in corporate and private collections. He has
received numerous grants and awards throughout his career as an
artist.
Recently, David has seen his paintings finally begin to materialize the
concept of "abstraction coming alive"- a concept he has worked on for
many years.
As a children's book illustrator, David has illustrated over seventy
books for children's educational markets and even written and
illustrated a few of his own books for the children's trade market.
Growing up just outside of Washington D.C., David spent his youth
"living in the Smithsonian museums", dividing countless hours
between the National Gallery of Art, The Hirshorn Museum and
Sculpture Garden, The Freer Gallery of Art and The Museum of
Natural History.
Those hours continue to inform and inspire his work as artist,
illustrator/author and educator. Currently, David is working as an
adjunct instructor in the art department of Blue Ridge Community
College, in Brevard, North Carolina.
David is also, currently involved in the development of an app game,
based on characters he invented, the Freaky Flipsters, with a
tentative launch date, sometime in 2012.
